Thank you for your support, and I’m proud to be elected by my colleagues as Vice-Chair of the 2018-2019 Cambridge School Committee!

In the 2018-2019 term, I look forward to working with parents, teachers, staff, my colleagues and the wider community to create Equity, Access, and Excellence for all of our students.

I will continue to lead the efforts to ensure that diversity and inclusion are at the center of the Cambridge Public Schools. Working with my colleagues and district staff, we will build on these important initiatives that have been adopted by the School Committee and implemented by the Cambridge Public Schools:
• Conducting inclusion & diversity training for the School Committee and City Council.
• Removing outdated and inappropriate language in the CRLS dress code policy.
• Bringing the new Elementary Language Program pilot to two elementary schools.

I remain committed to prioritizing outreach and listening to the community — as I did last term through a new, more inclusive budget process and through three “Community Conversations” about testing and assessment. And I will continue to work collaboratively with CPS staff — as we did to create a gender identity policy and protocol for all grades in our schools.
