Dear Friends,
I am honored that your support has given me the opportunity to serve my beloved community, Cambridge, as a member of the School Committee. As I said in my closing statement at our final School Committee Candidate Forum, I know what a difference a quality education makes to an individual’s life and to our community as a whole. Public education has had difficulty living up to its promise for many years; I want to help it reach its promise in Cambridge.
Throughout the campaign, you contributed in many different ways. Your efforts formed a wave I sensed three weeks ago when I recognized our efforts were reaching far beyond what I could have done alone. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to you all for your support throughout the past several months. We accomplished this victory together. I learned much from you. Let’s continue this conversation as I join the School Committee.
I want to recognize several people who gave incredible time and energy over the past several months: Victoria Harris, Alanna Mallon, Claude Bartholomew, and Sean Jeffries. You were my stalwarts.
Most of all, I want to thank my husband, Brian, and my son, Liam. You both believed in me and cheered me on when I flagged.
With gratitude,
Kathleen
Candidate-Elect Cambridge School Committee
